Six Flags Great Adventure has recently been given the go-ahead by the Jackson Township NJ Planning Board to decimate over 15,000 trees on 100 acres of forest land. Although alternatives, such as the installation of solar canopies over their parking lot, have been presented by environmental groups concerned with the impact that this decision may have on the environment and local residents, Six Flags has denied these options. The impact of this decision could threaten not only the many species of plants and animals within the forest (some endangered), but could possibly cause flooding hazards due to the loss of trees that soak up storm water. Countless animals will either be killed or displaced, and may wander into the back yards of residential homes or into roads and highways, which could cause accidents. We the people are deeply concerned about this project. We ask that the decision passed down by the Jackson Township NJ Planning Board that will allow Six Flags Great Adventure to decimate this land be reconsidered.
