The Issue

On March 8, 2020, Molly and her best friend Jesse were out running about as they normally do in the country near Jacob, Illinois which is south of Campbell Hill, Illinois. Jesse had gotten not even five minutes up the main road from my brother's house where she lives onto Gordon Road. On Gordon Road, it meets another road where Luke Coblentz lives on down the hill. As Jesse was standing on the top of the hill, Coblentz shot his gun up the hill to "scare her off", but it ricocheted off the road and hit her in the stomach, soon after he shot her once in the head. He then drug Jesse's body down the hill to a shed being built, put her behind it, took her collar off, and put a  wooden pallet over her. Not long after he went up to my brother's neighbor, whom we are very close with and told him that he had shot his dog, but my brother's neighbor explained that he couldn't have shot his dog because his dog was with him. So my brother's neighbor brought Mr. Coblentz over to his house and told him that he would have to tell my brother what he had done. When Mr. Coblentz arrived he had Jesse's collar in his hand, my father was with my brother working on things as they normally do in the shop, but he only stood there. My brothers neighbor said "Well tell him what you did." and not a moment later Mr. Coblentz looked at my brother and father and said "I think I shot your hound." My brother and father being in shock as to what the man had said, frantically get up and ask where she was, thinking she was possibly still alive and could be saved. Then Mr. Coblentz added that he killed her, he then took my father and brother to where he put her, laying under the wooden pallet as if she were trash to be forgotten about. Jesse was everyone's best friend, she was so shy she wouldn't even think about hurting a fly, but this careless man decided that it was his job to put our family member down. Jesse was the most selfless, loving, caring, peaceful animal my family has ever had the pleasure of owning. She was so gentle and sweet, and she LOVED to cuddle with her buddies every night. She was there for many of my family members when they were going through their personal troubles and she was the light of my brothers life. Jesse wasn't only a dog, she was a daughter, sister, niece, and grandchild. Words cannot describe the hurt our hearts feel from losing you, Jesse. You will always be the best friend we loved to have, but now you are the best angel we have. Please help to get Jesse's story heard!
