Jack Spade: Stay out of the Mission

Jack Spade: Stay out of the Mission
The Issue
Jack Spade is a menswear retailer owned by a multinational corporation, and it wants to plant a new store in San Francisco's Mission District.
City rules exist to prevent big businesses from pushing out the unique stores that help give San Francisco its identity. But Jack Spade took advantage of loopholes and is now looking to force its way into the Mission, all while ignoring concerns of the surrounding community.
If allowed, it would set a precedent for other major businesses to send in smaller, but no less wealthy, corporate offshoots.
You can help stop it: Tell Jack Spade to stay out of the Mission. A neighborhood business association has appealed Spade’s building permits, halting construction until the City holds a public hearing on August 21.
Now is the time to send a strong message that a deep-pocketed, designer menswear chain doesn’t belong in the Mission.
