Prevent Destruction in Kings Point Park

Prevent Destruction in Kings Point Park
The Issue
The Village of Kings Point is seeking to destroy part of Kings Point Park in order to clear a site for a new municipal building. The new building could simply be placed on vacant land where existing facilities are located. Instead, the Village seeks legislative approval to site the new building on parkland. Part of a forest containing massive 100+ year old specimen trees would be destroyed. The vacant site of the existing municipal building would then be sold for private development. A narrow strip of land facing a mudflat, just north of a sewage treatment plant, would substitute for the forested parkland that would be lost. Allowing this plan to proceed would create a legislative precedent that would endanger forested parkland across New York State.
Please sign this petition and help protect forested parkland for our children and for the future of our community. If we don’t stop them now, then this could happen to a park near you!
