Graham Linehan (@Glinner) uses his certified Twitter platform to disseminate hatred and misinformation against transgender women and children. He rages against the "grooming" of children by "trans rights activists," and mocks, belittles, targets, and shames people who do not agree with him. He regularly makes claims, without actual evidence, that all trans women are serial sexual predators who target women and children in women's toilets and other gendered facilities, and falsely claims that people are intentionally "transing" their children so they won't end up being gay.

Linehan directs his nearly 600,000 followers to unleash their vitriol toward trans people, children, and anyone else who dares to raise their voices in support of the trans community. Linehan has previously received a 24-hour ban, and most recently a seven-day suspension, for accusing an American university professor of "grooming" her adult students about LGBT acceptance, again without any evidence.

That Linehan purports to do all this in the name of women's rights makes a mockery of feminists and LGBT activists who have spent decades fighting for inclusiveness in the feminist and LGBT movements. He routinely violates the Twitter Terms of Service, and advises his followers on how to be transphobic while skirting the Twitter rules.

Why do I care? I'm a trans woman, a dual British-Canadian citizen, who spent over 40 years living in the closet, in fear of being treated just as Linehan and his followers treat trans people. No longer. Hatred, misinformation, lies, and baseless accusations against innocent people are not worthy of respect in democratic society.

Twitter must remove the platform of this man who uses it only to incite hatred and discrimination toward one of the most marginalized of communities.
