The 10th Annual Coyote Hunt sponsored by the Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs in Sullivan County starts Friday, February 10th. The number of those entered so far to hunt in New York State and five counties of Pennsylvania exceeds last year's. So far over 600 hunters are registered this year for the hunt. 

The contest will award a $2,000 grand prize for the heaviest coyote during the three-day hunt, one of the largest hunts of its kind in the area. Coyotes can be legally killed by either hunting or trapping where the animal(s) (coyotes and possibly other wildlife and domestic animals) can suffer in extreme agony for hours. 

The act of turning a hunting season into a weekend-long mass-killing contest is a cruel practice that negatively disrupts the ecology and threatens the survival of all of the region's coyotes even after the contest ends. 

Cancel this outdated and barbaric event!
