The push to rename New Zealand as Aotearoa is accelerating. It is no longer required to place the words New Zealand alongside (as in Aotearoa, New Zealand)  Maori interests are already pushing to eliminate all English names from the map and rename all places with Maori names or Maori circumlocutions.

This obliterates shared history and increases the marginalisation of English use in this country.

You have noticed that all announcements on media and all headings in printed official documents are in Maori FIRST then MAY be followed by English.

Unless this petition succeeds and we get English reinstated as an official language the decline of English use in "Aotearoa" will continue as it does daily in the hands of our Television announcers.
