Daily we are seeing Maori phrases uttered before English on TV adding strength to the need for recognition of English as an official language

All official organisations are being renamed in Maori with or without translation to English and this trend will continue accelerating unless NZ citizens wish to have English recognised as an equal official language. Recently the NZ Herald printed an article on city problems in Auckland, citing Waka Kotahi. One had to read 3/4 of the front page article before finding out that this was Auckland Transport responsible for the shambles.

There is a huge push to have the Geographical Society rename all places in NZ with Maori names with no acknowledgment of the English name.Already, some News Readers are using only the Maori name for the North and South Islands when doing the weather forecast.

It is up to you to get more signatures and get English recognised as an official language before it is too late.
