MCHC PETITION

The community of Molokai demands the immediate and permanent resignation of the Molokai Community Health Center CEO Helen Kekalia Wescoatt and the executive board: President Gregory Kahn, Vice President Mahina Poepoe, Treasurer Kanoelani Davis, and Secretary Bahar Yaghoubi.

The leadership is incompetent and has failed to uphold and execute the Center’s mission “To provide and promote accessible comprehensive individual and community health care to the people of Molokai with respect and aloha”.

1. The present Executive Board, and its administration (Helen Kekalia Wescoatt CEO), have proven to be incompetent, in the oversite of the MCHC, failing to understand and uphold the policies of MCHC and required Federal and State rules and regulations.
2. No oversite of the Executive Board of holding the CEO accountable for not complying with no physician for two years, and disruption of services., allowing this preventable liability to the patients and community.
3. The Executive Board and CEO refuse to address the community’s concerns. Several attempts have failed. Information requests from community members, legislators, and news outlets have been ignored. This is NOT PONO. Not having respect and “ALOHA”.
4. The September 2019 Department of Health investigation revealed: investigators were kicked out, documents withheld, and ultimately the Center was found to have serious violations including not having a physician.
5. Founding/previous Board member attempts to help and were refused by the current Board.

The Patients and Community, demands accountability for the risks and liabilities this current Executive Board and CEO, have caused, the damage and lost of trust to oversee our clinic, and possible future litigations.

By signing this petition, I am stating that I agree that the current Executive Board and CEO need to be removed immediately. A new board made up of past board members and an interim CEO will be established. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Hawaii Primary Care Association (HPCA) and the Hawaii Department of Health are all equally responsible for this situation and will be held liable if the community voice continues to be ignored. Molokai and Hawaii state legislators are being asked to intervene on behalf of the following:
