Harry Potter: Book 8- The Seventh Horcrux

The Issue

As many keen eyed- Harry Potter fans have probably noticed, there is a major flaw regarding the death of Voldemort. Throughout the series, Dumbledore claims that he created 7 horcruxes, as verified by Slughorn’s memory in which Voldemort says that his ambition is to do so as “[seven is the most powerfully magical number]”. However, in total Harry and Dumbledore only destroy 6 horcruxes, due to Dumbledore’s theory revealed at the end of the seventh book that Harry is an unintentional horcrux. Therefore, Voldemort was not aware that he had created seven horcruxes as Harry was unintentional, meaning that he had created a total of 8, following his ambition on trying to make 7. He would have also have had plenty of time to do so due to the wide time difference from when he made his first one out the the ring in the Gaunt Shack to when he killed Harry. As Harry and Dumbledore only destroyed 7 it is evident that a single last horcrux remains, meaning Voldemort is still alive and the prophecy has been unfulfilled. Therefore, when Harry “killed” him in the final book, Voldemort never truly died as he had a remaining horcrux. This is reminiscent of the scenario in the first book where Voldemort was possessing Quirrel. He died yet the soul of Voldemort lives on. This suggests that Voldemort escaped after the Battle of Hogwarts, meaning that he is still alive and most probably gaining strength. After all, the majority of Death Eaters were not caught after the battle, and there is the high possibility that he was not seen escaping during the aftermath of the battle. Another major factor that thoroughly implies that Voldemort is still alive is that, from when he was ‘killed’ Harry as a baby it took him 11 years to come back even with 7 horcruxes, so just because Harry’s scar has not hurt to signify the return of Voldemort for 19 years does not mean that all is well, for it may take Voldemort longer to return with only one horcrux. Some may say that the number of horcruxes does not matter, yet J.K. Rowling heavily suggests that this is not the case, for she never states how Voldemort gains his original body from his previous ghost state. He was also residing in Albania before his return, the location of one of his horcruxes, suggesting that there may have been something special about the horcruxe location to help him return to his original body. It is for this reason that I am reaching out to J.K.Rowling to either write an 8th book to complete the series or the script to a 9th film to extend the Harry Potter universe and finally put an end to this major flaw.
