Governor J. B, Pritzker’s action to close all state facilities and property to any use is an extreme over reach of government power. While we understand that there is a need to limit gathering sizes in this time of the coronavirus, preventing individuals and small groups such as parents and children from enjoying the outdoors is not needed. We should be encouraging people to use this time to reconnect to nature when sporting events and large gatherings are cancelled. We are calling on the governor to reopen state sites for use by groups of 10 or less people so they can use the services their tax dollars and license fees pay for.
