Memorial for Passengers & Crew of TWA Flight 529
The Issue
On September 1, 1961, TWA Flight 529 crashed near Hinsdale, Illinois shortly after taking off from Midway Airport. Fifty-nine years later, there is still no marker or memorial for the 73 passengers and 5 crew members killed in this tragedy. Their family members and loved ones would like to see a memorial placed at or near the crash site honoring all who perished. September first of next year (2021) marks the 60th anniversary of this tragedy, and we would like to see a memorial placed before that time.
Those lost on this flight were fathers, mothers, children, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and friends. Their loved ones would like to see their lives honored on a memorial which commemorates so many lives ending together in one moment. Many family members and friends have since passed never being able to see this huge loss being memorialized. Others who remain have to live with the memories and unfulfilled hopes of those they cared for and loved so dearly. Some of us were never able to meet or know them because we were either too young at the time, or not yet born.
Please help us get a memorial placed for this important event and these many lives lost before they are completely forgotten.
