Your voice is urgently needed on July 23, 2025 at 11AM PDT at a meeting on the WA Reparations Study for Washington's Descendants of Victims of U.S. Chattel Slavery. 

 As you may know, a national study led by Dr. William Darity of Duke University has concluded that persons who can prove their lineage as a descendant of victims of U.S.Chattel Slavery may be entitled to an estimated $400,000 per person.  

Last May Governor Bob Ferguson signed into law the Charles Mitchell and George Washington Bush Reparations Study with $300,000 in state funds, which could accelerate reparations for eligible Washingtonians. 

Unfortunately, the Department of Commerce (COM) and Commission on African American Affairs (CAAA) have recently replaced African American community voices with their hand-picked government insiders, without any community input. 

This Wednesday’s meeting is your opportunity to support the creation of a new community advisory board chosen by the African American communities throughout Washington State, NOT by Olympia bureaucrats! 

Washington's African American community won this study — now we must defend it.
