To: Itamar Ben-Gvir and Israel’s Law Enforcement Agencies

For the past 33 years, Eritrea has been under the oppression of a totalitarian regime who is committing crimes against humanity on its citizens. That is why Eritrea has been ranked top for producing refugees (per/capita) globally. Eritreans are scattered all over the globe in search of a safe haven and Israel being one of their destination.

Eritreans in the diaspora for decades have been expressing their opposition to the regime mostly through peaceful means. Their frustrations have been growing and since last year we are witnessing violent skirmishes between regime supporters and opposition groups in Europe, the US, Canada and Israel to mention a few.

The Eritrean regime is well known for its transnational oppression on its citizens in the diaspora. It uses different overt and covert mechanisms to intimidate and extort money through its foreign missions and spy networks that operate under the veil of Eritrean cultural festivals and independence ceremonies. 

The regime have now named its violent operations in the diaspora as – ራብዓይ ግንባር – Fourth Front - as an extension to the three military administrative zones inside the country. 

Since last year, these “Fourth Front” youth formations operating especially in Israel have been more organized, extremely violent and selectively killing outspoken youths from the opposition to intimidate and quash the movement. The Eritrean president in his national address on the occasion of the 33rd Eritrean Independence, openly acknowledged and admired the Fourth Front’s terrorizing acts as defending the country. There is a reason to believe that these recent killings are happening with the knowledge and guidance of a higher authority of the regime. 

We hereby ask for the Israel’s police and all relevant law enforcement agencies to:

• Urgently stop Eritrean asylum seekers killings in Israel
• Bring to justice all the perpetrators of these heinous killings
• Pro-actively stop any further loss of Eritrean innocent lives
• Protect all Eritrean asylum seekers and their families so that they can live in peace without any fear and danger to their lives
• Use any diplomatic channels at your disposal to stop the Eritrean regime’s killing squad agents from freely operating in Israel
