It’s time to take bullying seriously in hen hud
The Issue
UPDATE:
I met with the superintendent and he was actually really open to finding a real solution. There’s a strong possibility we’ll be getting monitors back on the buses which is a big step in the right direction. I just want to thank everyone who supported and shared the petition. it really helped push this forward. I’ll keep you all posted as things move along. Our kids deserve to feel safe.
I’m a mother of three children in the Hendrick Hudson School District. I’m starting this petition because this school year alone, both of my sons at two different schools BMMS & BV have experienced bullying. That should never happen, let alone more than once in the same district. In one case, my son, who has disabilities…was targeted. Yet the student responsible faced little to no meaningful consequence and was still allowed to attend school events (homecoming) shortly after. It sends a clear message: there are no real consequences, and not enough protection for the kids who need it most. This isn’t just about my family. It’s about a larger issue in how bullying is handled. When there’s no proper discipline and no safeguards in place, vulnerable students are left exposed, and families are left feeling unheard. I’m calling on the Hendrick Hudson School District to take real, lasting steps to protect students and hold those who cause harm accountable. I’m asking for:
🔹 Adult monitors or added supervision on school buses and in high-risk areas
🔹 Clear and consistent disciplinary action when bullying occurs
🔹 Direct communication with parents about incidents and outcomes
🔹 Stronger protections and support for students with disabilities or medical conditions
Every child deserves to feel safe going to school and getting on the bus. That’s the bare minimum. I may be one parent speaking up, but I know others have gone through this too. If you believe this needs to change, please sign and share.
