The Issue

Demand Safe Streets for Pedestrians and Cyclists in Wilmington, NC.  Wilmington ranks as one of the single most dangerous cities in North Carolina for pedestrians, with an average of 75 pedestrians/bikers/walkers being struck annually and an average of 3 fatalities.  This isn’t acceptable!!!

Far too often, we hear the same heartbreaking headlines: another pedestrian or cyclist struck by a car in Wilmington. It’s unacceptable—and it’s preventable.

Our city keeps expanding. New homes, new developments—but where’s the infrastructure to support the people moving here? Where are the safe paths, the crosswalks, the lights? Growth without safety is a recipe for tragedy.

Right now, there’s a small walking/biking path from 17th Street to Holly Tree Road. It’s a step in the right direction—but we need so much more. That path should be extended the entire length of College Road, from UNCW all the way to the Snows Cut Bridge. And it must come with PM lights so that it’s illu

Proper lighting
Crosswalks at every major intersection
Safe, accessible routes for ALL modes of transportation

We’re calling on city officials, planners, and leaders to prioritize safety and invest in infrastructure that protects lives—not just cars.

💥 Wilmington residents deserve safe passage, whether they walk, bike, or drive. Enough is enough. Sign this petition and help us make some noise—because change won’t happen until we demand it. 💥
