It’s time to open Burgh Quay Offices in Dublin for New Registrations
The Issue
Due to covid-19, the situation has become critical. It has been 7 months. Help us claim our RIGHT to register.
Till today, thousands of people who moved to Dublin since October 2020 are not able to register their residence since the Burgh Quay offices for first time registrations are closed in Dublin and in Dublin ONLY due to covid-19 restrictions, while being operational in other cities.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
- RIGHT TO WORK - impacted. ’Unregistered people’ are NOT ALLOWED to get a job or be employed in Ireland. The financial situation of these families has not been easy especially those who have relocated with their families (& kids) and a 1 salary in Dublin, for new movers is challenging.
- MENTAL HEALTH - impacted. People who are talented can’t get clearance to be employed so they are facing countless employment rejections due to the uncertainty of work-permit first time registrations. This is creating a feeling of rejection among us in a middle of a pandemic.
- FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT - impacted. Some of the ‘unregistered’ people can’t travel outside of Ireland or else they need a visa to come back (especially those with non EU citizenship). No visas are currently being issued and with the high prices of the Quarantine Hotel, people can’t afford the price to go back and forth
We NEED to do something. Affected people are starting to consider this as discrimination since it is targeting people in a specific city. The situation is now critical. The registration offices must open as there is a long pileup of people to register, get their cards, pay their taxes and start a new life.
Countless people have been reaching out for help and support in their situation, receiving rejection emails from potential employers because they don’t know when they will start working.
Please help us get this signed by as many people as possible so our voices can make an impact and we can start the new life that we want.
Covid-19 doesn't have to deprive us from our right to work and start a new life.
Thank you
