We attended both public Breaking News BHS meetings in June. BHS posted on their FB notification that all financials would be available to the public. We were told at the meeting that the BHS would schedule a private meeting to discuss financials at a later date. Instead of a meeting we received a document with answers to questions that were posed at the public meeting. The answers still did not include a budget for the first year or five years after the building is completed? We were also told that the BHS has meet with a lawyer and that all financials except for the 990's which are posted on the Guidestar website and the Bylaws which are posted on the Virginia site will be kept private?? Why the change??? They are legally obligated to post the 990's and the bylaws. Why not follow BEST PRACTICES for a non profit and share with the public how their donations are adding up and how they are being used???
