India's Support to the United Nation mandate on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.

India's Support to the United Nation mandate on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.
“History owes an apology to the members of the LGBT community and their families for the delay in providing redressal for the "ignominy" and "ostracism" they have faced through the centuries.” – Justice Indu Malhotra.
India’s judiciary has shown that it does not discriminate with its two most important judgements. The NALSA judgement in 2014made us rethink of gender and demolish the binaries in which gender identity is conceived and discussed. Further the verdict on Section 377 decriminalized homosexuality, thus paving a way for an Inclusive Society that is ready to accept the various Sexual Orientation and gender Identities.
On the 11th and 12th July 2019 India will get an opportunity to demonstrate its leadership and stand up and show that it is truly believes in Inclusivity. India, as a member of the Human Rights Council will be asked to vote on a resolution moved by Latin American states, which seeks to renew the mandate of the first UN Expert on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI).
Earlier when a similar resolution was introduced in the United Nations - India abstained on 11 of the 17 votes and voted with hostile nations to introduce six amendments with the sole intent of subverting the purpose of the resolution. Today, as a nation we support the LGBT+ community and this is the right time to show that we are leaders that can set examples.
Sign my petition urging Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam to vote in favour of the resolution on the July 11, 2019 and demonstrate that India stands for Inclusivity and extends their support to the LGBTQ+ Community in India and globally.
India has seen some bold decisions under Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,Join me in asking our leaders to lead an example globally and support the LGBT+ community.India’s Vote Matters!
