It’s Time for Pokémon to Evolve: A Call for Innovation and New Development Partnerships

Pokémon is one of the most successful and influential franchises in entertainment history. As fans, we fully recognize and respect that Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, and Game Freak own and control the Pokémon intellectual property.
This petition is not a legal demand and not a call to give up ownership.
It is a good-faith signal from the community.

Why Fans Are Speaking Up
While Pokémon continues to succeed commercially, many longtime fans feel that recent games are limited by:

☆Conservative design choices
☆Outdated technical execution
☆A reluctance to experiment with new genres or large-scale online experiences

For years, fans have expressed interest in seeing Pokémon explored through bolder formats, including:
A true large-scale online or MMO-style Pokémon world
Deeper RPG systems
Modern technical standards that better match today’s global gaming landscape
This feedback is not driven by nostalgia or entitlement, but by the belief that Pokémon’s potential far exceeds its current scope.

What This Petition Is (and Is Not)
This petition IS:
A request for innovation through collaboration
A call for licensed or co-developed projects, such as spin-offs
Support for experimentation alongside existing core Pokémon games
This petition is NOT:
A demand to “take Pokémon away” from its owners
A rejection of Game Freak’s role
A misunderstanding of how intellectual property works
Many major franchises successfully grow by partnering with specialized studios while retaining full ownership and creative oversight. Pokémon is strong enough to do the same.
A Path Forward That Reduces Risk
Exploring collaborative or licensed projects would:
Preserve IP ownership and brand integrity
Reduce risk by allowing experimentation outside the main release pipeline
Enable technical specialization from studios experienced in large-scale online or live-service games
Offer fans something meaningfully new without replacing what already works
This approach reflects confidence, not dissatisfaction.

Why This Matters?
Pokémon has always been about discovery, growth, and evolution.
This petition exists to show that a portion of the Pokémon community is ready for thoughtful, modern expansion — not reckless change, and not hostility toward its creators.
Healthy franchises evolve.
Legendary ones aren’t afraid to.

How to Help?

Sign and share this petition if you believe Pokémon has room to grow
Share respectfully within gaming communities
Encourage open discussion about Pokémon’s future
Creators and commentators who have previously discussed Pokémon’s lack of innovation — such as Asmongold, MoistCr1TiKaL, Ludwig, and Pokimane, have shown that this conversation already exists.
This petition simply brings that conversation together in one place.
