For millions of Kurds worldwide, the Kurdistan flag is an official symbol of identity and homeland. It is used every day—but in digital communication, there is currently no way to express it as an emoji. A Kurdistan flag emoji would be a meaningful sign of visibility, respect, and recognition.

At present, there is no Kurdistan flag emoji available on iPhone or Android, despite the fact that this symbol holds deep significance for many people. The Kurdistan flag does not represent only a region, but a global community—spread across many countries, yet united by a shared identity and culture.

Including the Kurdistan flag in Unicode would be an important step toward recognition and digital visibility for the Kurdish community. Unicode is the global standard for digital text and ensures that emojis appear consistently across platforms and devices. By adding this emoji, millions of people would finally be able to express their identity and sense of belonging in a universally recognized way.

According to Unicode statistics, there are already over 3,000 emojis, including many national flags and regional symbols. Introducing a Kurdistan flag emoji would not diminish existing emojis—it would place the Kurdish flag on equal footing with other flag emojis and reflect the diversity of today’s digital world.
