Malaria has plagued humans for over 10,000 years. We can eradicate it in our lifetimes.  
 
Malaria is a preventable, mosquito-borne disease that kills over 400,000 people each year. Two-thirds of these deaths are children under five in Africa. The good news is that we can end the injustice of malaria in this generation!  
 
Over the last two decades, the malaria mortality rate has been cut in half. Today, it costs less than $5 to protect a family from malaria, using mosquito net or anti-malarial treatments. Now we just need the commitment, political will and resources to scale up programs to reach the most vulnerable, hard-to-reach communities.  
 
But the global pandemic has made it even more challenging to deliver malaria programs to the most at-risk communities. Malaria deaths may rise by up to 36% in the next five years – over 500,000 additional lives lost – due to COVID-19 related challenges.
