It’s okay to Ask for Help: Support Mental Health
The Issue
Mental health is an important part of our lives, just like physical health. Many face prejudice and hatred for their mental health, which makes them afraid and not know which way to turn.
Sometimes, people are afraid to ask for help. Sometimes, they don't have access to someone they trust. And sometimes, their struggles are simply dismissed because of many reasons, such as:
- Having to be "a strong man"
- Being "too young to be stressed out"
- Just "being too sensitive"
- Or being told "mental illness doesn't exist, you're just crazy."
Being a person does not make someone's feelings less real
We are calling for greater awareness of mental health and stronger support systems around the world.
We ask schools, educators, families, policymakers, and community organizations to:
- Make mental-health resources easier for people to find and access.
- Increase awareness of available counseling and support services.
- Encourage people to talk about mental health without shame or embarrassment.
- Teach people how to recognize when they or someone else may need help.
- Create safe opportunities for people to speak about the challenges they face.
- Make sure people know that asking for help is a sign of courage, not weakness.
- Continue working to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.
This petition is not about labeling every difficult emotion as a mental illness. It is about recognizing that people are human, and people sometimes need support.
A person shouldn't have to reach a breaking point before someone takes their struggles seriously.
By signing this petition, you are standing for a culture where people can say "I need help" and be met with understanding rather than judgment.
Mental health matters. People's voices matter. And asking for help should always be okay.
We are asking our schools, communities, cities, and population to listen, educate, and act on this ongoing issue.
Sign this petition to show that all mental health deserves attention because all mental health matters.
