We, the undersigned students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members of Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), write to express our concern regarding the selection of Congressman Rich McCormick as the commencement speaker for the Spring 2026 graduation ceremony.

While we respect the importance of diverse perspectives and the recognition of Rich McCormick as the first MSM alumnus to be a congressman, we cannot ignore that his views are in direct opposition to our institution’s values and harmful to the very patients we aim to serve.
