The Qld Law Reform Commission has now released its draft Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2021 which will be tabled in Parliament next week.  It will then undergo another 12 week public round of consultation - yes, that's right ...  before it goes to Parliament in September this year for debate.  If it passes the anticipated implementation date is 2023 ...  Over 5 years since the massive push to make this reform happen.  The draft Bill can be found here https://www.qlrc.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0006/680226/qlrc-report-79-draft-voluntary-assisted-dying-bill.pdf

The Qld Premier has indicated MPs will be allowed a conscience vote - THEIR conscience vote - and that this is "beyond politics".  It can't be "beyond politics" if Politicians are going to make the final decision.  This should be about the conscience vote of the dying.

Now is the time to let your local MP know that you expect him/her to use THEIR conscience vote for the dying - not for themselves.
