Thank you to everyone who has signed this petition. We are at nearly 70,000 signatures. It sends a clear message to our government that when the world settles down, we expect the QLD government to introduce Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation in this political term.

Please continue supporting us by sharing this petition via Whatsapp

This week, the Qld Health Committee delivered its recommendations on the "End of Life Choices Inquiry" in Qld. There were 6 Committee Members and 4 of them chose to support the introduction of the legislation. Unfortunately, the two LNP Members, who sat on the same Committee chose to not support the introduction of the legislation. I wonder how they can continue to stand by LNP's party policy to oppose VAD, even after listening to the harrowing accounts and arguments discussed in the committee.

This is why your support is extremely important in reminding these politicians that they are failing to represent us - 70,000 of us who have signed the petition and many more who stand for voluntary assisted dying. If you use Whatsapp, please share the petition with your friends and family.

The basis of their dissension is on page 201 of the report in the section "Dissenting Report" and, in my humble and personal opinion, defies all logic. It fails to acknowledge that this legislation is "voluntary" for those who are suffering.

There were 21 Recommendations delivered by the Committee and some of these would need to be reviewed/amended to reflect lessons learned from the Victorian legislation and the recently passed Western Australian legislation to enable the legislation to actually work effectively and not cause obstacles that prevent individuals from accessing such legislation at a time when they need the process to be a smooth one.

Please read my personal views on the report here. It is by no means "comprehensive" but just a quick summary.
