Last night's "Insight" (SBS) - Voluntary Assisted Dying Legislation demonstrated the disparity between the Palliative Care "Hierarchy", their promises/assurances that palliative care can control pain and suffering and the voices of those with "lived experiences".  From my perspective, I wish there had been more representation by those actually living with a terminal diagnosis and all that is experienced after a diagnosis and a long time before the end stages of life come.  Last night's show demonstrated those who oppose do so based on "their" position, "their" standing without giving consideration to the deeply personal wishes of those who have to live and suffer through the horror of such a diagnosis and their families who remain traumatised forever after their deaths.  After the success of Victoria and Western Australia, it is now time for the remaining respective State Governments and The Territories to allow every Australian this deeply personal option. QUEENSLAND will hold its own Voluntary Assisted Dying Legislation Rally in support of this legislation on 19 March 2020 at 1 pm at Parliament House, George St, Brisbane (meet at Speakers Corner).  If you support "VAD" please be there.
