The Issue

Hello everyone, this petition is all about the ongoing scam with the students of North East India.

Ishan Uday Scholarship which is under University Grants Commission has been providing financial aid to economically weaker students of North East India. The purpose of the scheme was to promote higher education among the students of North-east by helping them financially. This scheme was supposed to encourage a lot of students for their higher studies but this year, a lot of students are deprived of this opportunity because of a scam. There has been an unnatural and absurd data in the merit list. Thousands of mismatch names and unknown colleges are being entered in the list.

From Victoria Inter College, a total number of 238 students got selected in the merit list. From St Paul’s College of Management and Information Technology, a whooping 533 students got selected in the Ishan Uday and in Medak Institute of technology and pharmacy, the number is even higher with 550 students. The numbers are unbelievably high even though none of them are famous institutes.  Without surprise all three mentioned colleges are private. If we search the Medak Institute, which is located faraway in Medak district in Telengana (again a red flag), the google search returns a result “Permanently Closed". Moreover, there were faults in name, gender and religion of the students.

This issue is serious and needs to be addressed and the truth behind all these must be revealed. The students of North East demands a completely new merit list. Please help me sign this petition so that we can bring back the rights of the deprived students.
