Обновление к петицииIssue an Expert Irish Endometriosis Framework - let us have a National InquiryAccess to Care Should Not Depend on Ability to Pay

I want to share a personal update that reflects exactly why this petition matters.

My Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meeting is now rescheduled for May 14th under the Endometriosis Surgery Abroad Interim Scheme (ESAIS). This should be a step forward - access to the specialist care I have needed for years.

But there is a critical gap.

While the surgery itself may be covered, travel and accommodation are not covered upfront. I am expected to pay these costs myself and seek reimbursement later.

Right now, that means I cannot commit to surgery - not because I don’t need it, but because I cannot afford to access it.

After over a decade of mismanaged care, multiple surgeries, and no consistent multi-disciplinary approach, I am finally at the point of being offered the treatment I needed all along - yet financial barriers still stand in the way.

This is not just my experience. This is a systemic failure.

No patient should have to delay essential, life-changing surgery because they cannot afford accommodation.

No one should have to fundraise to access basic healthcare.

That is why this petition matters.

We are also now listed on Uplift, which helps bring this issue directly to TDs across constituencies - strengthening the call for a national inquiry into endometriosis care in Ireland.

Your support is helping push this issue forward - not just for me, but for every person navigating this system.

Thank you.
