This day an entire decade ago I got news that the funds had been transferred for the sale of my house so we celebrated what would be our next chapter- the following month we moved out and the same week I found out that my “clear” scans for the previous 7 years were not clear - they were not read correctly 

I was advised to have one surgery - 1 surgery turned into 3 surgeries in 10 months including a hysterectomy 

3 surgeries turned into 7 surgeries in 8 years 

In 2022 I had my first excision of endometriosis surgery a surgery that lasted 4 hours and it turned out the surgeon was not skilled enough to treat endometriosis and left behind endometriosis.

Shortly after that surgery I discovered Ireland did not have an endometriosis framework so few medics were trained in Endometriosis & Ireland did not have any Specialists.

What I have been through the past decade was multiple traumas, organ loss and I lived through my life plans being robbed from me while I navigated an Ireland that did not have the correct supports in place for a condition more than 155,000 women in Ireland live with.

I began blogging my experience and I was met with so much pushback.

Then from the year 2022 Endometriosis became more known and so many women are now raising their voices and speaking out for change.

What if my scans had been read correctly since 2007?

What if I had received the correct treatments and supports when I needed them?

What if is a question that can lead down some very difficult rabbit holes!

One thing I am proud of is I always believed what my body was telling me and always pushed forward despite the reality I was enduring - I will never get back the decade that was robbed from me but hopefully my experiences can help others through their journeys 💛✨
