Thank you so much for signing our petition to protect Priory Bay from overdevelopment! That so many of us have signed shows just what a special and rare place it is - and needs protecting. Please take the time to read some of the comments on the petition.
My crazy hope when I started this petition just last Thursday was that 5000 people would sign before the meeting tomorrow - and now we are in touching distance of that target... please keep sharing and encouraging people to get involved! Some people have had trouble signing it - please ask people to get in touch with change.org directly if they find they cannot sign. The confirmation email is also going to people's junk folders so please encourage people to check that too.
We have had some good local press coverage today including interviews on IW Radio and BBC Radio Solent and these articles...
Aria have tried to counter our concerns as well https://www.countypress.co.uk/news/17475561.we-will-protect-and-preserve-priory-bay-aria-resorts-hits-back-at-overdevelopment-criticism/
However, their claims to be planning to plant between 1700 to 4300 trees and shrubs demonstrates how unclear their intentions still are for the 'mitigation' of the damage to the woodland - the condition on which Natural England dropped their objections to the tree houses.
The National Trust, despite owning land at both ends of the beach have not been consulted and have had no input into the proposals, despite being vital stakeholders in managing Priory Woods both as a wildlife corridor, and as a resource for local people and visitors.
We are preparing our submissions for the planning meeting tomorrow - please come and support us. 4pm Council Chamber, County Hall, Newport. This petition has been included as a late submission by the planning team...
Thank you so much for your support for this small piece of paradise, it means the world to me, and might just save the magic of Priory Bay for future generations,
Yours hopefully,
Charity x
