Mae Porthaethwy wedi dioddef boneddioli a gor-ddatblygiad mewn blynyddoedd diweddar a phrin unrhyw elw cymunedol i'w gyfiawnhau.

Nid oes cefnogaeth i'r henoed, rhieni ifanc, pobl ifanc yn eu harddegau a dim pwynt canolog i hwyluso cydlyniant cymunedol a chyfleon gwirfoddoli. 'Does 'na ddim gofodau cyd-weithio. Dim lleoliad celfyddydol. Dim cynaliadwyedd. Dim cynllunio ar gyfer cenedlaethau'r dyfodol. Gallai hyn i gyd ddigwydd yng Nghapel Mawr pe bai iddo gael ei warchod fel ased o werth cymunedol.

Mae'r ddeiseb hon yn mynnu y dylai'r gwerthwyr, yr awdurdod lleol a'r aelod senedd, Rhun ap Iorwerth weithredu er mwyn sicrhau y caiff Capel Mawr ei restur a'i amddiffyn fel ased o werth cymunedol ac y dylai amodau gwerthiant gynnwys i'w ddefnydd barhau felly.

Capel Mawr - a prominent and cherished building at the heart of the community for decades is up for sale by formal tender via estate agents Morgan Evans.

Menai Bridge has endured enough gentrification and over-development in recent years with little to no community benefit to compensate.

There is no support for the elderly, young parents, teens and no central point to facilitate community cohesion and volunteering opportunities. There are no joint-working spaces. There is no arts venue. There is no sustainability. There is no planning for future generations. This could all happen in Capel Mawr if it were preserved as an asset of community value.

This petition demands that the sellers, the local authority and the Assembly Member, Rhun ap Iorwerth take action to ensure that Capel Mawr is registered as an asset of community value and that a condition of sale should be that it's use be maintained as such.
