Dear Irving Citizens,
Let our City Council know you stand with them — email your support for taking moral stand!
We want to express our appreciation to our Council members for the work they do on behalf of our community every single day. Local leadership often carries difficult responsibilities, and we are grateful for their service and their commitment to Irving’s values.
Since our petition was launched, more than 2000 civilians have been killed near aid distribution sites in Gaza, many caused by deliberate gunfire. A former U.S. Army Green Beret who worked as a security contractor at these sites described what he witnessed as “war crimes” (Haaretz, July 26, 2025). Physicians from our own Irving community have also traveled to Gaza and served as eye witnesses to these atrocities. Meanwhile, the United Nations has now confirmed a famine in Gaza, with Secretary-General António Guterres calling it a “man-made famine” and a “failure of humanity.”
As Irving residents, we believe our city can be a moral voice in this moment. Our official value statement pledges “a commitment to always do right.” Calling for a ceasefire is one way to live up to that promise and show that Irving stands for peace and justice.
We want to reassure our council members that this call is backed by genuine grassroots support. Hundreds of Irving residents have signed the ceasefire petition, and more are joining every day. Our community is united in the belief that Irving can and should stand on the side of human dignity.
That is why we are entering the next phase of our advocacy. We are asking Irving residents to write to City Council members directly, not in opposition, but in encouragement — to let them know that their community supports them in making this moral stand.
Please use this portal to write emails. When writing your email, please:
- Include your full name and address (to show you are an Irving resident).
- Share in your own words why Irving should take a moral stand and call for a ceasefire.
Together, we stand with those who need our voices most.
With gratitude,
