Greyhound Racing Ireland is continuing to hide video footage of dogs suffering falls at Enniscorthy track.
The latest example relates to race 1 at the track on 4 July 2022 during which greyhound "Alien Hope" was knocked over at the first bend and "Hard to Figure" fell at the second bend. Neither dogs posted finishing times.
Also absent from the GRI website is Enniscorthy track footage of
Race 4, 17 March 2022 during which greyhound Madabout Leroy, in his first race, was knocked over and “did not finish”
Race 5, 6 September 2021 - greyhound knocked over on the back straight and did not post a finishing time.
Race 6 , 6 September 2021 - 2-year-old greyhound stumbled and “did not finish”
Race 5, 2 September 2021 - greyhound knocked over at the second bend.
Race 1, 2 August 2021 - greyhound knocked over
Race 9, 1 August 2021 - two greyhounds knocked over and did not post finishing times
Race 1, 5 July 2021 - greyhound knocked over and “did not finish”
Race 8, 14 June 2021 - greyhound knocked over
Race 1, 22 April 2021 - two greyhounds knocked over at the first bend, etc
Sickening Greyhound Racing Ireland statistics show that dogs suffer and die at Enniscorthy greyhound stadium. 122 greyhounds suffered injuries there and 30 were killed by a track vet over the past eight years alone. Among the most recent victims was a greyhound who suffered a fractured hock on 18 April 2022 and another who sustained a wrist injury on 12 May 2022. Both were killed by a track vet.
At races around Ireland since 2014, 2,853 greyhounds have been injured and 971 killed.
Greyhound Racing Ireland has also hidden footage of dogs falling at Shelbourne Park, Curraheen Park, Clonmel, Enniscorthy, Galway, Kilkenny, Limerick, Mullingar, Newbridge, Thurles, Waterford and Youghal tracks.
Greyhound Racing Ireland has a history of hiding damning evidence. It attempted to bury a report which revealed that around 6,000 greyhounds are killed every year in Ireland because they are not fast enough to win races. The report’s contents were featured on the “RTE Investigates: Greyhounds Running for Their Lives” documentary, which can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYTb2qBjlMM
The report estimated that a total of 17,962 greyhounds were culled in 2013, 2014 and 2015. They were killed for “failure to produce qualifying times”, “failure to produce desired entry level times” and for an “unacceptable decline in performance”. Previously, Greyhound Racing Ireland tried to hide the fact that a greyhound collapsed from a heart attack and died at Shelbourne Park. The death was revealed by the Greyhound Star website which reported: “The poor dog was having a heart attack. We managed to get him to the van and I started compressions but the tongue had already gone blue. He died shortly afterwards.” There was no mention on the IGB website of the heart attack or the dog dying. Incredibly, in a notice posted on the GRI website three days after Ballymac Syd died, the dog was listed among three dogs "withdrawn from the second round of the Boylesports Derby”. “In Heat 3, Ballymac Syd will be a non-runner from trap four,” the GRI website stated.
It’s time for the Irish Government to stop the funding that’s propping up this cruel, dog-killing gambling activity. Please respond to the action alert below and help bring greyhound racing to an end in Ireland.

ACTION ALERT
Don’t go greyhound racing.
STOP THE STATE FUNDING FOR GREYHOUND RACING
Join us in demanding an end to the government’s massive grants that are keeping cruel greyhound racing afloat. Greyhound Racing Ireland has received more than a quarter of a billion euros of taxpayers’ money since 2001, including €16.8 million for 2020, €19.2 million for 2021 and €17.6 million for 2022. This is unacceptable and must be stopped. Contact the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and Finance Minister now.
