Minister Shane Ross TD (Independent, Dublin-Rathdown) asked that government funding to the greyhound industry be TERMINATED in the wake of the RTÉ Investigates programme which revealed that 6,000 greyhounds are killed every year because they are not fast enough to win races. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, Minister Ross voted in favour of the Horse and Greyhound Racing Fund Regulations which granted a total of €48.8 million to greyhound racing (part of the nearly quarter of a billion euros handed over to the Irish Greyhound Board since 2001).
Join us in urging Minister Ross to confirm that he will no longer vote in favour of these grants. Encourage him to push for a ban on greyhound racing.

Since 2001, the Irish Government has paid out around a quarter of a billion euros of taxpayers' money to greyhound racing, including €16.8 million for 2019.
