Irish Public Accounts Committee (PAC) slow to respond

The Irish Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has been slow to respond substantively to  concerns about DFA governance and expenditure linked to an Irish whistleblower case in Geneva. Although correspondence was referenced around the PAC meeting of 17 July 2025, no data has been provided. After a detailed follow-up of 12 August 2025, PAC issued only a brief acknowledgement (from the Senior Clerk) and has not clarified whether: (i) any information was sought from DFA on enforcement of Swiss court orders or related costs since 2017; (ii) her 24 July 2025 letter was accepted as a Committee document benefiting from parliamentary privilege; or (iii) the matter has been formally referred under Standing Orders to the Foreign Affairs & Defence Committee and the Justice Committee. Despite repeated, specific requests no substantive update has been provided. This prolonged delay hinders transparency and oversight on value-for-money, governance, and risk-management issues that see to  fall squarely within the PAC’s remit.
