The Amy Fitzpatrick Petition.  A Right to a Cold Case Review for All Missing Persons Abroad in the European Union
Irish schoolgirl Amy Fitzpatrick disappeared in Mijas, Costa del Sol, Spain, on 1 January 2008, aged just 15 years.

More than 18 years later, Amy's family are still waiting for answers. Throughout this time, we have received very few updates from the Spanish authorities, and despite repeated requests, we have been told that there is no system of routine cold case reviews for missing persons in Spain.

We believe this must change.

We are calling for every family whose loved one goes missing abroad within the European Union to have the right to an independent review of their case at key intervals, after 1 year, 5 years, and 10 years with the investigating police providing the family with a formal briefing on the progress of the investigation and any new lines of enquiry.

No missing person should be forgotten simply because time has passed or because they disappeared in another country.

This petition will be presented to the Irish Government and the European Parliament, calling for stronger protections and greater accountability for families of missing persons across Europe.
