Peatlands are Ireland's rainforests. Bogs play a vital role in mitigating the effects of the climate crisis by storing vast amounts of carbon. Irish peatlands hold 75% of the soil’s organic carbon, dramatically more than agriculture or forestry. Our bogs need to be protected at all costs. 

The Irish General Election is on Saturday. If you can vote, I hope that you'll find out where your local candidates stand on the Climate Emergency and only vote for people who put Climate first. 

Ireland declared a Climate Emergency in May 2019. Yet, Fine Gael has zero interest in protecting the land. We need to vote them out. My local TD, Fergus O'Dowd (Fine Gael) is bulldozing this illegal road through with no consideration for the environmental impacts. It's disgraceful. We only have one planet.
