Include the option "No" for travel insurance on the IRCTC website and the IRCTC app

The Issue

If you've ever booked a train ticket online, you must have realized that, in the line that says "do you want to take travel insurance?", there is only a "yes" button, the "no" button is not there at all!! This is true for both the IRCTC mobile app and the website as well.

I don't know what's going on in the heads of the people at IRCTC. Either, they think they are too smart - by including only the yes button, which is already selected and you won't be able to unselect it - or, it's developers were suffering from short term memory loss to have completely forgotten the "No" option!!!

Also note that, all this money (0.92/person) of travel insurance goes into the pockets of third-party insurance companies such as Royal Sundaram, ICICI Lombard, etc.

So what IRCTC has basically done is that, it has taken away our right to choose(a basic right in a democracy). It shouldn't be ok, if one of the basic rights is stolen by the government itself. We've already lost this right in motor vehicles (in India, it is mandatory to have your vehicle insured, both 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler).

So, let's not give up this right, in this mode of transport as well.

After all, taking an insurance should be a personal choice. So, let's sign this petition and bring the option "No".

Let's make them remember that India is a democracy.

Let's do it!!
