Jerome Garces was part of the controversial refereeing team today in charge of the Ireland vs Japan match, so it’s obvious @WorldRugby hasn’t taken your valid concerns seriously YET(!) We received many, many messages of support and upticks from outside of South Africa from non-South Africans concerning the ‘Debacle of Yokohama’, which speaks to what an outrage his officiating was to the global rugby community. While not the view of the petition’s founder, it would be remiss not to acknowledge just how many rugby fans have posted messages to the petition and Twitter and other online platforms alleging match fixing. How on earth is it right for Jerome Garces to still be refereeing at this RWC? Moreover, is it responsible, ethical even, for @WorldRugby to continue to send Jerome Garces in to officiate matches when he must be under severe mental strain and pressure following such public derision and ridicule and exposure to millions of people. It is quite incredible that he is scheduled to referee Ireland vs Russia and Fiji vs Wales in the next 10 days — massive fixtures for all of these countries. Please keep the pressure up, guys. As a non-South African, please know that I was as outraged as you by the events of Saturday 21st.
