IRAN WAR CONCERNS
IRAN WAR CONCERNS
The Issue
As United States citizens from various political perspectives, we have serious concerns about the current war in Iran and the justification that was used for initiating it. Some of our concerns involve the thousands of innocent civilians who have already been killed, including United States soldiers stationed elsewhere and over 170 children at an Iran girls school, the widening war engulfing the entire Middle East and beyond, skyrocketing gas and food prices, and huge drops in the stockmarket. The Trump administration gave us no clear reason for the war or attention to its possible consequences. This war is costing over a billion dollars a day and is illegal under the United States constitution, United Nations charter, and Geneva Convention. We emphasize that this war has had no legal authorization from the United States congress, and is completely contrary to President Trump’s campaign promises to combat inflation and avoid wars. Furthermore, the timing of this war is questionable in regard to how it may relate to sinking presidential polls, the Epstein files, and the midterm elections. For all theses reasons, we strongly urge that this war not continue to be funded and end as soon as possible, and that peaceful negotiations resume with Iran.
