The Issue

Sandusky Speedway in Ohio was recently sold at auction and suffers from a very questionable future, most likely not as a race track anymore.  The last race was run October 5th at the famed half-mile that hosted ASA, ISMA Supermodifieds, Outlaw Late Models, Stock Cars, Modifieds, Winged Sprint Cars, Trucks, Non-Winged Sprint Cars, and more.

A unique track, Sandusky was the Midwest's home to Supermodified racing for years and has seen drivers like Terry Cook, Dale Earnhardt, Johnny Benson, Jr. and so many regional stars over the 75-year existence of the race track.  The track was used by ThorSport Racing as a test facility up until NASCAR banned testing anywhere and at one point Richard Childress Racing with driver Kevin Harvick and Joe Gibbs Racing with driver Denny Hamlin used the track to test for the NASCAR Cup Series races at Martinsville Speedway.

By scanning and building Sandusky Speedway, iRacing could preserve a piece of motorsports history forever on the service and allow the track to live on for generations to come.
