The Daily Express has headlines every week inflating all manner of racist hatred, often through outlandish claims (eg. "Muslims tell British: Go to hell").  Following a particularly hate-filled EU referendum campaign, UK newspapers, and particularly the Daily Express, must take responsibility for the rise in racially-motivated criminal attacks we have witnessed (up 57% according to police reports).

Simply because the Daily Express is a newspaper, it must be held accountable to the same standards that a leaflet put through a letterbox would have, or a poster on a billboard.  The Daily Express has an official readership of 1,130,000, and reaches many more.  Groups are being regularly slandered by unsupportable statements, which is itself criminal.

The Daily Express must be sanctioned, and told to dial back its headlines immediately.
