Mi nombre es Diego Antonio Arriaga Sanchez, soy pentatleta desde 2010. El pentatlón moderno es un deporte que me ha enseñado a crecer como persona y deportista. He participado en múltiples competencias internacionales pero lo más importante me ha formado como individuo. Abrió mi mundo a conocer nuevos horizontes, me ha dado las amistades más valiosas en mi vida, me enseñó los valores más bonitos, me ha mostrado que los sueños se cumplen pero siempre hay que trabajar en ellos. Este deporte fue creado por Pierre de Coubertin en 1912 con el propósito de crear al deportista perfecto, es el único deporte creado para juegos olímpicos modernos y hoy, no solo está en peligro que este deporte pierda la filosofía con la que se inició, está en peligro su permanencia en Juegos Olímpicos.

Esto es una tristeza para todos los amantes del deporte, ya que por su gran tradición este deporte debe estar junto a los grandes deportes como la natación, atletismo, equitación. La posible salida de nuestro deporte habla de un mal manejo por parte de la máxima autoridad que es la Unión internacional de pentatlón moderno (UIPM) quien no tuvo el valor de defender el deporte que encabeza. En Tokio 2021 hubo un suceso con el equipo Alemán que marcó como supuesto maltrato animal. Este maltrato fue malinterpretado ya que se puede observar como se da un momento de frustración de parte del equipo aleman, si lo ponemos de manera clara el uso del fuete que es legal y autorizado, tendría que ser puesto como maltrato animal, recordando lo dicho por Coubertin buscamos hacer equipo con el caballo y trabajar juntos para así tener una competencia exitosa. Con este suceso los ojos del mundo estuvieron viendo el pentatlon moderno por un par de días y nuestras autoridades en lugar de defender y mostrar que somos un deporte con gran tradición y valores, se escondió y dejo que los medios hablaran lo que quisiera de este deporte. Esto solo demostró una falta de liderazgo, demostró que no les importan los valores por los que se fundó este deporte.

Hoy queremos hacer un cambio de dirigentes para poder seguir la hermosa tradición de este deporte y poder mostrarle al mundo lo hermoso que es el PENTATLON MODERNO

DECLARACIÓN DE LA COMUNIDAD DE ATLETAS DE PENTATLÓN MODERNO: PEDIMOS LA DIMISIÓN DEL PRESIDENTE Y DEL CONSEJO EJECUTIVO DE LA UIPM

Como pentatletas modernos, pasados y presentes, estamos conmocionados por la decisión de la Junta Ejecutiva de la UIPM de eliminar la disciplina ecuestre.
Declaramos unánimemente un voto de desconfianza en el Presidente y en todo el Comité Ejecutivo.

El Barón Pierre De Coubertin creó el Pentatlón Moderno específicamente para los Juegos Olímpicos con el fin de mostrar al mejor atleta. Sin consultar a sus atletas y a las federaciones miembro, la Junta Ejecutiva ha socavado 109 años de Pentatlón Moderno. La Junta Directiva dice que está respondiendo a la presión del Comité Olímpico Internacional. Todos somos conscientes de los retos a los que se enfrenta el Pentatlón Moderno. Debemos mirar siempre al futuro y hacer que nuestro deporte siga avanzando.

Las acciones del actual Presidente y de la Junta Directiva demuestran que necesitamos una nueva junta directiva capaz de planificar los intereses de este deporte a largo plazo, defender a sus atletas y proteger su lugar en los Juegos Olímpicos.

Por lo tanto, pedimos a la Junta Directiva y al Presidente de la UIPM que dimitan.

My name is Diego Antonio Arriaga Sanchez, I have been a pentathlete since 2010. Modern pentathlon is a sport that has taught me to grow as a person and an athlete. I have participated in multiple international competitions but most importantly it has shaped me as an individual. It has opened my world to new horizons, it has given me the most valuable friendships in my life, it has taught me the most beautiful values, it has shown me that dreams come true but you always have to work for them. This sport was created by Pierre de Coubertin in 1912 with the purpose of creating the perfect athlete, it is the only sport created for modern Olympic Games and today, not only is this sport in danger of losing the philosophy with which it started, it is in danger of losing its permanence in the Olympic Games.

This is a sadness for all sport lovers, because due to its great tradition this sport should be next to the great sports such as swimming, athletics, horse riding. The possible departure of our sport speaks of a mismanagement by the highest authority which is the International Union of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) who did not have the courage to defend the sport he leads. In Tokyo 2021 there was an event with the German team that was marked as alleged animal abuse. This mistreatment was misinterpreted as it can be seen as a moment of frustration on the part of the German team, if we put it in a clear way the use of the horse, which is legal and authorized, would have to be put as animal abuse, remembering what Coubertin said, we seek to team up with the horse and work together to have a successful competition. With this event the eyes of the world were watching modern pentathlon for a couple of days and our authorities instead of defending and showing that we are a sport with great tradition and values, hid and let the media talk whatever they wanted about this sport. This only showed a lack of leadership, it showed that they don't care about the values for which this sport was founded.

Today we want to make a change of leadership in order to continue the beautiful tradition of this sport and to show the world how beautiful the MODERN PENTATHLON is.

A STATEMENT FROM THE MODERN PENTATHLON ATHLETE COMMUNITY: WE CALL FOR THE RESIGNATION OF THE UIPM PRESIDENT AND EXECUTIVE BOARD

As Modern Pentathletes, past and present, we are shocked at the UIPM Executive Board’s decision to remove the Equestrian discipline. We unanimously declare a vote of no confidence in the President and complete Executive Board.

Baron Pierre De Coubertin created Modern Pentathlon specifically for the Olympic Games to showcase the ultimate athlete. Without consulting its athletes and member federations, the Executive Board has undermined 109 years of Modern Pentathlon.

The Board say they are responding to pressure from the International Olympic Committee. We are all aware of the challenges Modern Pentathlon faces. We must always look to the future and keep our sport moving forward.

The actions of the current President and Executive Board show that we need a new board capable of planning for the sport’s long-term interests, standing up for its athletes and protecting its place in the Olympic Games.

Therefore, we call upon the UIPM EB & President to resign.
