A big thank you to the 22,000+ of you who agree that our government should take a stand on the shocking violence in Myanmar and revoke Aung San Suu Kyi’s honorary Canadian citizenship. Please join me in Ottawa this Sunday, for a rally in support of the Rohingya people facing unimaginable persecution. Here are the event details: Demonstration against Genocide of Rohingya Sunday 17 September 2017 at 2.30pm Parliament Hill, 111 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0A6 Speakers at the demonstration include: -Monia Mazigh (human rights activist and author) -Alex Neve (Secretary-General, Amnesty International Canada) -Raees Ahmed (member of the Ottawa Rohingya community) -Ahmed Limame (Imam of the Outaouais Islamic Centre) -Myself, Fareed Khan (social justice advocate) The rally comes after Prime Minister Trudeau spoke with Aung San Suu Kyi on Wednesday. There was no indication that the status of her honorary citizenship was discussed. This event is a powerful opportunity to get involved and send a clear message to our government - we must stand with the Rohingya people of Myanmar. I hope to see you there. Can’t make it? Please help spread the word by sharing this petition.
