Investigation of the death of Mackenzie Branham removed from Fayette County Jurisdiction

Investigation of the death of Mackenzie Branham removed from Fayette County Jurisdiction
The Issue
Mackenzie Taylor Branham, 8 years old...died in a house fire, in Jeffersonville Ohio, that was set by an arsonist on April 27, 2006. Her mother and mother’s live-in boyfriend were both able to escape the home unharmed , although Mackenzie was removed from her upstairs bedroom, laying in her bed, by firefighters. The firefighters stated they was on scene 15-20 minutes before being notified, by her mother, Mackenzie was still in the home. Many items of evidence have been lost/destroyed, along with multiple mistakes made by the Fayette county sheriff’s office , that have enabled those responsible to remain free.
The tragic and untimely death of Mackenzie Taylor Branham has left her family, friends, and community devastated and with many unanswered questions. Despite the gravity of this matter, there are growing concerns about the handling of the investigation in Fayette County, Ohio. It is imperative for justice and closure that there be a thorough, unbiased, and professional investigation into this case.
There have been several reports suggesting potential biases and mishandlings within the current investigation process in Fayette County, raising legitimate doubts about its effectiveness. This has not only compounded the grief of Mackenzie's loved ones but has also shaken the community's trust in the local judicial and investigative processes.
A transfer of this case to a more neutral jurisdiction or to state-level authorities is essential to ensuring that Mackenzie's case is given the attention and impartiality it deserves. An independent investigation would help ensure that all avenues are explored and all possibilities are thoroughly examined, without the shadow of local biases.
We urge the Ohio Attorney General and other relevant authorities to intervene and reassign the investigation of Mackenzie Taylor Branham's death to a different jurisdiction outside of Fayette County. This will help restore faith in the investigative process and, more importantly, honor Mackenzie's memory by seeking true justice for her.
Join us in our plea for a fair and impartial investigation by signing this petition. Your support can make a difference in ensuring that justice is served and that such tragedies are handled with the gravity and neutrality they deserve.
