I am deeply perturbed by an alarming trend in our homeowner's association (HOA). Over the past year, we've seen an increase of more than 20% in our HOA fees, a burden that is unjust and overbearing. This inexplicably high increment was not invested back into our community as promised by the HOA. Promised upgrades such as landscaping and necessary community repairs remain unattended, shifting blame to the Community Development District(CDD) unfairly.

Particularly egregious was a sudden bill of $12,000 issued for holiday decorations, when in reality, our community saw no such decorations in the year 2024. It begs the question: where are our hard-earned dollars going?

According to the Community Associations Institute, HOA boards must demonstrate financial responsibility by balancing the needs and resources of the community, avoiding unreasonable raises in fees. They are also expected to communicate about any increase in dues and how the money will be utilized.

The lack of transparency and accountability in our HOA is not just disheartening but is also contrary to the standard practices of homeowner associations.

We urgently call for a thorough investigation into these unexplained charges and for immediate steps towards better financial transparency by our HOA board. Transparency in these matters is not just ethical but necessary. We, therefore, request fellow residents affected by this matter to sign this petition.
