Investigate the Town of Gilbert

Investigate the Town of Gilbert
The Issue
We, the undersigned, call for an independent, outside agency to investigate the Town of Gilbert for serious concerns affecting residents’ rights, public trust, and the lawful operation of local government.
1. Unlawful and Excessive Utility Rate Increases
The Town of Gilbert has implemented utility rate increases that were not properly noticed to the public and do not meet the legal requirement of being just and reasonable. Rate changes must follow transparent, lawful procedures — yet those procedures were not upheld.
2. Fraudulent Utility Billing and Faulty Metering
The Town of Gilbert has acknowledged ongoing billing inaccuracies, faulty metering, and unexplained charges. These issues continue without correction, raising concerns of systemic overbilling and a failure to meet basic standards of accuracy and accountability.
3. Illegal Deletion and Withholding of Public Records
Public records requests have been improperly withheld, delayed, or not produced, and there are concerns that records have been unlawfully deleted. This violates state open-records laws and obstructs the public’s right to government transparency.
4. Unlawful Manipulation of Police Data
There are serious concerns regarding the improper handling or manipulation of police data. Accurate and unaltered police data is essential to public trust, legal compliance, and community safety. Any interference with such data requires immediate outside scrutiny.
Our Request
We demand a full, independent investigation into these matters to determine the extent of any wrongdoing and to restore transparency, integrity, and lawful conduct within the Town of Gilbert. Residents deserve a government that is honest, accountable, and fully compliant with the laws that protect the public.
Citizens of Gilbert deserve transparency and accountability from those in positions of power. By signing this petition, you are supporting a movement to ensure that the Town of Gilbert operates with integrity and that its leaders are held accountable for their actions. Let us unite for a brighter, more transparent future for our community. Please sign and share this petition to demand the independent investigation that the Town of Gilbert urgently needs.
