

"Village, it is Monday morning. Before we speak, take a moment of silence for the human beings who did not get a chance to die of natural causes, or safe and warm in a home of their own. Take a moment for the 67-year-old man found Saturday morning on 3rd Avenue in Manhattan. He lived for 67 years, only to die 'unidentified' on a sidewalk at 7:45 AM.
While we mourn, the people in charge have gone home.
Today, state offices are closed due to 'Storm Fern.' The very people who oversee our housing and our laws have retreated to their cushioned, gated communities. They don’t have to count change for a cup of coffee. They don’t have to choose between a meal and a blanket because their 'State of Emergency' includes a backup generator and a heated floor.
The Hypocrisy of the 'Cushion'
In the same month this storm hit, NJ lawmakers accepted a 67% pay raise. They boosted their own salaries to $82,000, while the Governor’s salary rose to $210,000. They have plenty of money for their own comfort, yet they tell us there is 'no room' and 'no budget' to enforce Chapter 68.
What does it really mean when a politician says, 'thank you for your service,' but in the same breath says, 'there is nothing we can do for you'?

• 13,851 of them are unsheltered in this blizzard.
• 318 Million people are homeless globally.
The Moral and Legal Verdict:
The Bible warns: 'Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker' (Proverbs 14:31). Our Constitution demands the government 'promote the general Welfare.' They have put the burden of this crisis on the people and then gone home to hide behind their gates. This petition is no longer just a request—it is a formal record of their neglect.
