Investigate the Impact of Telstra's 3G Network Shutdown on Australians

Investigate the Impact of Telstra's 3G Network Shutdown on Australians
The issue
In recent years, rural and regional Australians have watched as reliable communication access has diminished, particularly following the shutdown of the 3G network. Many of us—farmers, business owners, community leaders, and families—have come to rely on stable connectivity to operate our businesses, stay in touch with loved ones, access healthcare, and keep our communities thriving.
Since the deactivation of the 3G network, countless rural residents and businesses have been left with limited or unreliable access to phone calls, messaging, and internet services. The supposed transition to a "comparable" 4G network has fallen short, leaving many of us frustrated, isolated, and struggling to stay connected. It’s increasingly difficult to maintain livelihoods, access emergency services, and stay connected with schools, families, and essential services.
We, the undersigned, ask that the government and service providers recognize the severe impact of this change and conduct a thorough, independent investigation into the connectivity issues facing rural and farming communities. Specifically, we request:
Immediate Assessment: An independent assessment of the current network quality and reach, especially in rural and regional areas.
Transparent Reporting: Regular public reports on the infrastructure improvements promised to replace 3G.
Government Action: Policies to protect rural areas from service downgrades and support improved communication infrastructure to ensure equitable connectivity for all Australians.
By signing this petition, you are advocating for dependable, quality communication services that meet the needs of all Australians. Let’s stand together to restore our access to reliable communication and hold service providers accountable.
Your voice and your signature can make a real difference for communities across Australia.
